Brand History
Skagen were founded by Henrik and Charlotte Jorst in 1989, originally the company were US representatives for Danish corporate gift watch manufacturers. In 1991 they found a way of manufacturing the watches at a cheaper price and they displayed these watches at a corporate gift fair in 1991. At the gift fair they were convinced to market the watches under their own brand and this became the start of the Skagen Denmark brand. The first Skagen watches were sold in 1992, the company grown quickly expanding to the UK and throughout Europe by the year 2000. By 2011 the brand had expanded worldwide and in 2012 the company was purchased by Fossil, Inc for over $200 million.
